REMINDERS
Any resident in the City who plans to remove trees,
erect a fence, install an in ground pool, construct any additions to your
home, etc., must first contact Mike Kilgore, one of our City Commissioners,
to obtain a building permit. Mike can be reached at Mike5114@aol.com
or by phone at 329-9114. It is very important for you to get a permit before
you start any work in order to stay in compliance with the ordinances.
There have been several complaints about dogs running loose
in Bellefonte. We have a leash law in the City and dogs violating the
ordinance are subject to being picked up and taken to the Tri-County Animal
Shelter. Residents who want to lodge a complaint about dogs should
call the Shelter at 473-5711.
In order that visibility may be maintained for oncoming and
converging traffic at intersections, no trees or shrubbery having a height
in excess of two (2) feet shall be planted or maintained within ten (10)
feet of the intersection of the paved portion of streets. It is the
homeowners responsibility to keep all shrubbery trimmed so as not to
obstruct the view of any traffic.
We would like to again ask the residents NOT to take
their garbage cans to the street to facilitate garbage collection. Our
contract with the Sanitation Company requires them to come to the back of
all of the houses to pick up the garbage. In addition to making less
work for you, this requirement helps to keep the neighborhood more
attractive. Our garbage contract also requires the contractor to pick
up all the garbage reasonably generated by a household in a week. You
are not limited to a specified number of cans. The contractor has an
exclusive contract for residential garbage collection in Bellefonte.
Other refuse companies are not authorized to make collections in the City.
We have had a few recent incidents of thefts from unlocked cars late at night. The police are asking that all residents lock their cars at night. So far, all of the incidents have involved unlocked cars. There have been no forced break-ins or damage to the vehicles.
